Creating Community
On 4/24/10 at 3pm all families who attend groups at GroupWorks West are invited to a hike and picnic at Will Rogers State Park. The purpose of this outing is NOT to practice social skills in vivo/live action -- rather, what we hope will happen is families will have a good time, get some much needed fresh air, and chat and laugh.
This is a community building outing -- a chance for families to meet one another and to make new connections, connections that will hopefully lead to families exchanging phone numbers or emails.
This is a quality of life outing -- not a therapeutic group or intervention. So, bring some water, sun screen, wear comfy shoes, and let's hike up to inspiration point. When we get to the point, we will eat and take in the view of the Pacific ocean and the Santa Monica mountains.
All ages are welcome -- jogging strollers can even make the trek if you are so inclined. Also, for those who may want to push on, "backbone" trail is there for the taking. Heck, if you want to really go for it, you can hike all the way to Big Rock in Topanga Canyon.
Be there or be square!
