The end of the line? Jerry Brown's new budget

The new budget proposed by Jerry brown calls for $750 million in reductions to the Department of Developmental Services -- which means a 20% reduction in the Regional Centers operating costs.

Not only will their be a 20% reduction in their budget, but the powers that be up in Sacramento will also decide what types of services should continue to be funded. Last year all recreation and camp services were eliminated, perhaps this years it will be socialization groups.

Socialization groups are crucial to children and teens with ASD, but I could see how the folks up in the state capital might argue that kids and teens can get by without social support.

In any event, don't be shy about letting your state representatives know about the needs of your children and teens!
