Watch out: here comes the video monster

With two to three weeks of time off from school, many kids are hoping/planning on spending as much time as they can in front of a computer monitor or TV. As they see, this is there down time and what better way to relax than an escape into video-fantasy world.

Unfortunately, for ASD kids and teens, they need more espacpe into fanstasy like they need ... Well, forgot the analogy: they just don't need more time involved with a fantatsy world/electronic entertainment. They need grounding in your social reality.

Make a plan in advance of the holidays: come up with simple activities that will get your child/teen out of the house or away from the darn video console!!

This is a very important fight (if it turns into a fight) to win. Be strong. Be clear. And above all, allow your child/teen to be unhappy with your limit setting.

Good luck.
